MONDAVIO
Mondavio was born on a hill and is located about 20 km from the Adriatic Sea, from which you can see Mount Catria and Mount Nerone.
Since July 2003, Mondavio has obtained the recognition of the Orange Flag (TCI environmental tourism quality mark for the hinterland). It was included by the association of the same name, among the most beautiful villages in Italy.
Il Borgo, places of interest:
The Rocca Roveresca, built in 1482 by the architect Francesco di Giorgio Martini, was designed, at the behest of the Dukes of Rovere, in every detail as a war machine, capable of resisting any enemy attack. In fact, the Rocca has never suffered attacks and its state of conservation is excellent.
Under the Rocca Roveresca you can find true reproductions of war machines: catapults, trebuchets and bombards.
The Historical Reenactment Museum was built in 1966. The rooms house objects from the eighth to the seventeenth century, such as artillery, armor and sidearms.
In piazza Giacomo Matteotti, overlook: the church, the cloister of San Francesco and the Town Hall which houses the "Madonna and Child" from 1385, by Olivuccio da Ciccarello.
At the entrance to the Church and Convent of San Francesco (1292), we find the remains of Lucio Martire and many works by artists from the Marche region such as the "Madonna della Misericordia with Child" and "Immaculate Conception" from 1535 by the Persiutti Fano brothers.
The garden of the Leopardi school is a corner with fragrant flowers, aromatic herbs and majestic trees.
The Apollo Theater in perfect Art Nouveau style, is located inside the Church of San Filippo Neri.
The interior room has three tiers of boxes, a U-shaped plan and the vault decorated in shades of gold and blue, with a medallion in the center depicting the god of Greek mythology Apollo, surrounded by dancers and floral festoons.
