Thirteen Lives tells a well-known and exciting story, a drama that finally had a happy ending.
It was the summer of 2018, in a northern province of Thailand, just before the start of the monsoon season, 12 young players along with their coach descended at the entrance of a cave, suddenly disappearing.
Due to heavy rains they were trapped inside, unable to get out and back.
Little by little the cave filled with water and fortunately the boys managed to find a point in the cave where the water had not yet reached.
Their only chance at that moment was to wait for help and to avoid the floods they went further and further inward.
It took Thai officials two days to find ways to get them out before relying on the advice of British cave explorer Vern Unsworth and sending two British Cave Rescue Council divers John Volanthen and Rick Stanton.
The divers were able to dive and found the group of boys who were right at the end of the cave at the highest point; the only problem that arose now was that of how to get them out since some could not swim while others did but it was also that of being able to keep them calm by navigating in the narrow walls of the cave and not running out of oxygen.
The upper floors decided that the only way to get them out was to sedate them and get them out.
So they decided to call the Australian anesthetist Richard Harris and asked him to join the mission.
As it was illegal what they would do, Governor Narongsak reassured Harris that he would take responsibility.
This plan worked and they managed to get both and the boys and the coach out safe and sound 18 days after they entered the cave.
The film will be available on premieres starting August 5th.
