THE PENGUINS OF HUMBOLDT - Cattolica Aquarium
These penguins are found in the coasts of Chile and Peru, hence the name "Humboldt". They can reach 60 cm in height and can live about 20 years. They eat mainly krill, shellfish and sardines, they do not go beyond -30 meters deep. They live in groups and form a steady couple for life. The cubs are born from an egg hatched by both parents, in turns, for about 32 days. As soon as they are born, the puppies are gray and covered with very soft fur and when they become adults, they acquire black and white plumage with pink.
At the Cattolica aquarium it is possible to attend the meal of the Penguins in the company of an aquarium expert on the staff.
