THE ISLAND OF BURANO
One of the most colorful cities in the world
Burano is part of the islands of Venice, known for its lace and rainbow houses. The island can be reached by the ACTV vaporetto (line 1) from Piazza San Marco Venice.
THE WRONG BELL
It is 53 meters high, with a Renaissance and neoclassical style, it was built in the 17th century. Its leaning shape is due to the subsidence of the land.
SAN VESCOVO CHURCH
Inside you can see many famous works, one of these belongs to Giambattista Tiepolo, one of the greatest Venetian painters of the 18th century.
SQUARE GALUPPI
The meeting place is the center and the only square on the island.
BEPI SUA 'AND THE HOUSE OF A THOUSAND COLORS
We know that all the houses in Burano are colorful but the house in via al Gottolo is different from all the others.
It is the most famous of the island and it is impossible not to recognize it, with its painted geometric shapes.
Mr. Bepi is no longer there but it was his passion to paint the facade of his house with different colors and shapes, giving tourists a different look to their souvenir photos.
THE BURANELLO LACE AND ITS MUSEUM
Burano lace, with a centuries-old tradition, is one of the most renowned lace in the world. There is also a famous lace museum on the island.
TYPICAL MEAL
The most famous dish is the "risotto di gò", a typical fish of the Venice lagoon, known in other regions as "goby".
TYPICAL SWEET
The typical dessert of Burano has a donut shape and is the bussolà or buranelli. Its variant takes the name of its shape, the being of Burano.
