The Furlo Gorge
The Furlo Gorge is a breathtaking canyon created by the erosion of the waters of the Candigliano river. It is located between Mount Pietralata and Mount Paganuccio between the municipalities of Fermignano and Acqualagna, in the province of Pesaro-Urbino.
An evocative peassage between the cliff and the water, where nature reigns as sole and indisputable sovereign!
Here are four things you absolutely must do:
- Take a walk along the ancient Flaminia road: The Furlo nature reserve offers multiple routes to be experienced, thanks to which you will be able to observe, in amazement, a splendid and luxuriant nature made up of a vast variety of flora and fauna; there are golden eagles, peregrine falcons and grey herons; wild boar, roe deer, fallow deer and the presence of a few wolves is also of considerable interest; it is more difficult to spot weasels, martens, badgers and polecats, mainly nocturnal animals.
- Organise a picnic in the 'La Golena' public park located at the foot of the Paganuccio and Pietralata mountains. This park offers a rest area at the limits of perfection, suitable for anyone, to discover nature through long walks along the banks of the Candigliano river; in addition, for the more sporty, do not miss the Furlo Adventure Park, 3 acrobatic courses and 2 suspended courses designed for children from 6 years of age but also usable by adults . If you are also not equipped for lunch, a few steps away you will find restaurants and whatever else is ready to offer you typical products and local delicacies.
- A kayak excursion among the Marmitte dei Giganti at Fossombrone, a municipality in the Province of Pesaro Urbino; the splendid turquoise-coloured Canyon is one of the places in the Marche highly recommended for a visit .
