SUP
SUP (Stand Up Paddle) is a sport that comes from the perfect union of surfing and canoeing;
in fact, it is practiced with the use of a board, which can be more or less rigid, and a paddle, which allows you to maintain balance and gives you the possibility of making more decisive maneuvers.
Like many paddle sports, SUP is also believed to have originated from the Polynesian Triangle.
Invented during the 18th century by the natives of Hawaii, it was mainly used for fishing.
It was only later, in the mid-twentieth century, that it acquired the connotation of sport as we know it today.
As for the tables, there are three different types:
- stiffer boards, made of resin and covered with varnish
- softer resin boards, but which for this reason are more prone to damage
- inflatable boards in layers of reinforced PVC, which are more easily transportable, but still maintaining good rigidity and resistance.
With SUP it is not only possible to practice a fun and rewarding sport, but also to have an excellent workout at the same time.
In fact, having to maintain balance on the table, the heart and abdominal muscles are trained. On the other hand, paddling mainly trains the back, shoulder and arm muscles.
