Serena De Ferrari, in the role of Viola in "Mare Fuori"
The actress portrays a young inmate for a cruel and insane crime, an unsettling character that has deeply affected her: "My therapist helped me to detach from her. It hasn't been easy."
Viola is a young girl in prison for murdering her best friend, staining herself with a shocking and senseless crime.
Born in Turin in 1998, Serena De Ferrari reveals Viola's nuances with measured words, also telling about herself from her home in Rome.
"I studied piano since I was a child, attending the conservatory, the music high school, and participating in numerous competitions. Later, I won a scholarship to the Manhattan School of Music in New York. It's here that, through courses in opera singing, I developed my passion for acting," explains the actress.
Daughter of a journalist mother and a lieutenant colonel in the Carabinieri, besides "Mare Fuori," Serena has also acted in the Netflix series "Zero" and the film "The Bunker Game."
On social platforms, Viola's character has attracted particular attention, being judged schizophrenic, sociopathic, manipulative, narcissistic, and dangerous.
"Viola is a girl with mental disorders rooted in her childhood. In 'Mare Fuori 3,' her traumas are explored: she suffered violence as a child."
This character has accompanied Serena for four years and sometimes its presence has been challenging to manage. The actress's therapist helped her understand and detach from Viola, even outside of filming.
"It hasn't always been easy. During the filming of a particularly dramatic scene this season, I remained motionless, crying without being able to hold back the tears," reveals the actress.
