SANGIOVANNI
Giovanni Pietro Damian, born in Vicenza and raised in Grumolo delle Abbadesse.
He attended Don Giuseppe Fogazzaro high school in Vicenza, leaving him in the fourth year to participate in Amici di Maria De Filippi.
He approached the world of music at sixteen, the age at which he started writing his first songs. He chose to use the pseudonym Sangiovanni as many told him that he did not have the face of a saint.
He released the first three singles Paranoia, Non + and Guccy Bag during 2020 for the Sugar record label, making himself known by participating in the initial phase of the twentieth edition of the talent show Amici di Maria De Filippi at the end of the same year.
He gained access to the evening phase of the program by joining the team led by Rudy Zerbi and Alessandra Celentano.
In May 2021 he reached the final, triumphing in the singers category and finishing second in the general classification and first in the singing category.
During his participation in Amici he released the singles Lady, All night and Hype, which together with the songs of the previous year have climbed the Italian charts.
The most successful was Lady, certified quadruple platinum by the FIMI.
On May 14, 2021 the first EP of the same name was released, which climbed directly to the top of the Italian album chart, with which in two weeks the singer obtained his first platinum record to which a second was added in the following July, a third in September, and a fourth in the following May for the more than 200,000 sales units totaled nationwide.
In the week of release Sangiovanni got his first single number one thanks to the single Malibù.
The latter was the most successful song of 2021 according to the FIMI, as well as the most listened to song in Italy both on Spotify and Apple Music and the most viewed video of the year on VEVO.
Later he released the single Gamma Rays and Lost in the Dark, the latter in collaboration with Madame, included in the digital reissue of his EP.
At the Sanremo Festival 2022 with the song Farfalle he reached the 5th place in the final ranking.
He also published a version for the Spanish market in collaboration with Aitana, entitled Mariposas.
The follow-up single, Cielo give me the moon, was released in March 2022 to anticipate the first studio album, Falling to fly.
