RKOMI
The singer returns to the stage of the Beky Bay in Bellaria Igea Marina, Thursday 18 August 2022.
Mirko Manuele Martorana, this is the real name in the registry office of Rkomi.
Born in Milan on April 19, 1994, he is a Milanese rapper who was able to gradually conquer first the music scene of his city and then the national one, with an unprecedented combination of rap and indie styles.
Such is his success that the artist is among the singers competing in Sanremo 2022: let's find out more about Rkomi's path.
In the Lombard capital he spends the first years of his life, more precisely in the popular district of the eastern suburbs of Calvairate.
Mirko is determined to build his own road despite his humble origins: he attended the Gallus Hotel Institute until his compulsory years, leaving his studies at seventeen.
Undaunted by hard work, he gains financial independence by working as a bartender, dishwasher and even a bricklayer.
Thanks to his determination, he rents an apartment together with his childhood friend Tedua, with whom he shares a passion for rap and for whom, at least initially, he should have worked as a tour manager.
It is thanks to the relationship established with Tedua and the growing passion for rap music that Mirko, who in the meantime has taken on as his stage name Rkomi - anagram of his name - decides to try to dedicate himself to some musical projects in first person.
With Sfaso, Falco, Pablo Asso and other rappers from the Milanese scene, he records some EPs between 2012 and 2013 which are followed by the more famous Calvairate Mixtape.
This is a collection of six-handed songs composed by Rkomi, Tedua and rapper Izi, which was released in 2014.
Calvairate Mixtape is followed by two years of quiet for the budding artist, interrupted only by the publication on YouTube of the song Dasein Sollen: inspired by a concept popularized by the philosopher Heidegger, this song is very successful, so much so that the Digital Distribution label hires the rapper asking him to release the EP.
Thanks to the further resonance it enjoys, Rkomi begins to attract the attention of professionals and not only. The singer-songwriter Calcutta soon noticed him and decided to entrust him with the opening of his live concerts in Turin.
Rkomi then comes into contact with other important exponents of the music scene in turmoil at that time, including Shablo and Marracash.
The two manage the Roccia Music label and offer him to sign a contract.
In September 2017 Rkomi's first album is released: Io in terra.
Inside there are fourteen tracks that see the collaboration with Marracash and many other artists.
The work is anticipated by the publication of the singles Solo, Apnea and Mai più, two of which are soon declared platinum discs.
After making its debut in the standings, Io in terra is positioned at the top, becoming certified gold by Fimi.
In April 2021 the path towards consecration continues through the publication of the album Taxi Driver, which contains the song Ho turned off the sky.
Together with Elodie he tries his hand at the fierce Christmas market thanks to the single La coda del diavolo.
At the end of May 2022 he was confirmed as the fourth and last judge of the X Factor broadcast; in the new edition of the talent show he affiance Ambra Angiolini, Dargen D'Amico and Fedez.
