LIFTIBA
Liftiba are an Italian musical group formed in Florence in the autumn of 1980.
The members of the group are;
-Ghigo Renzulli (guitar)
-Gianni Maroccolo (bass)
-Antonio Aiazzi (keyboards)
-Piero Pelù (vocals)
-Francesco Calamai (drums)
initially there was also Sandro Dotto who shortly after left the group and was replaced with Pelù.
The name "litfiba" comes from the hypothetical telex address of the rehearsal room they used since the beginning of history (this room was located in Florence in via de' Bardi).
The band was very influenced by the punk, dark and nascent new wave styles, genres that at that time were very famous in Europe.
In 1982 the band recorded their first EP containing 5 songs which was titled "LIFTIBA" and the same year they won the 2nd edition of the Italian Rock Festival.
At the end of 2021 the band announces the retirement from the scene after 42 years of activity with a last tour scheduled for the following year.
Ultimo Girone: this is how Litfiba announced their last national tour. The band of Piero Pelù and Ghigo Renzulli presented themselves on August 20 in Cattolica in the Arena della Regina.
For over 40 years and still today they are considered the most popular rock band by Italians.
