GRACE KELLY
Grace Patricia Kelly, better known as Grace Kelly, a symbol of elegance for an entire generation, was born on November 12, 1929 in Philadelphia, the third of four children.
After graduating from high school, she traveled to New York to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Here, after receiving her diploma, she appeared in various television and theater productions. Her first film was "14th Hour" (1951), by director Henry Hataway, who made only a very small part of it.
But her first major artist proof comes the following year in the legendary "High Noon", where the young actress played the equally young wife of a sheriff (played by Gary Cooper).
The next film got her a contract with the important production company MGM: the film in question was "Mogambo" (1953), and her co-star was the legendary Clark Gable.
Having become a full-fledged international star, she captures the attention of the master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock. And it was the great director who discovered and fully exploited her talent when, a year later, he entrusted her with the leading role in "Perfect Crime".
Later, they also shoot together "The window on the courtyard" and "To Catch a Thief". The success of the Thrill Master's films, her stage presence and her icy beauty earned her the nickname "Hot Ice".
In 1954 she also won the Oscar for Best Actress for her performance in her film in George Seaton's "Country Girl". And which also saw the participation of the star Bing Crosby.
"To Catch a Thief" was set entirely on the French Riviera, a place that would change her fate.
In fact, during her subsequent participation in the Cannes film festival, she was invited to a meeting with Prince Rainier of Monaco. Ranieri, madly in love with her when he first met her, did everything to win her over, showering her with attention and love letters. By the end of that same year, their engagement was officially announced. It was, to be precise, January 5, 1956.
They are moments of great happiness for the actress. However, behind the scenes, on a professional level, the break with MGM, the most successful American film major, was taking place.
However, the production company asked her to shoot at least one other film, "High Society", and her exclusive on filming her wedding.
At the beginning of 1956 Grace therefore shot her last film not only with MGM but absolutely, precisely the musical comedy "High Society", which also starred Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra.
The wedding was set for the month of April, so Kelly bid farewell to the film set forever to sail to France where her beloved Ranieri was waiting for her. Grace soon became a role model for girls in 1950s America. And she became even more so when she married Ranieri.
On January 23, 1957 she gave birth to Caroline her while the following year, on March 14, her second son, Prince Albert, was born. Seven years later, on February 1st, it was Princess Stephanie's turn.
On September 13, 1982, Grace and her daughter Stephanie were involved in a terrible car accident as they drove from France to Monaco. Stephanie was able to get out of the car that crashed into a slope in time, unlike her mother who was found unconscious. She was already in a coma when she was transported to the hospital, where she died 36 hours after her at just 52.
It was 11.45 pm on September 14, 1982 when Telemontecarlo spread the flash of the news of Grace Kelly's death.
Thus the curtain fell on the tale of the "Swan", on that timeless icon of beauty, class and charm that the Princess of Monaco embodied.
