What to visit?
The center of Florence is the Piazza del Duomo, where it houses:
- the Basilica of Santa Maria del Fiore - surmounted by the majestic Brunelleschi's Dome.
- the Baptistery of San Giovanni
- Giotto's bell tower
- Behind the Cathedral is the museum of the work of Santa Maria del Fiore, where it is possible to admire a magnificent collection of works from the cathedral, the Baptistery and the Bell Tower.
Piazza della Signoria, which represents the historical center of civil life and hosts:
- the Loggia dei Lanzi
-the Fountain of Neptune
- the Palazzo della Signoria
Next to the Piazza della Signoria, there is the Uffizzi Gallery.
Home to one of the most important museums in the world, which includes works by Botticelli, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and many other great artists.
A particularly important element of the gallery is the Vasari corridor, designed by Vasari in the mid-16th century, which connects the structure with Palazzo Vecchio and Palazzo Pitti.
Palazzo Pitti was the residence of the Medici and Lorraine, located in the Oltrano district which can be reached by crossing the ancient old bridge.
When you are in the Oltrano district, don't forget to leave out the panoramic Piazzale Michelangelo from which you can admire the wonderful view of Florence and the surrounding hills, and the church of San Miniato al Monte.
