CASA DELLE FARFALLE - CERVIA
Inserted in the suggestive setting of the Cervia pine forest, the Butterfly House represents a unique emotion for all those who love to be surprised by the enchanting and always varied spectacle of nature!
The beating heart of the "Butterfly House" is the greenhouse that hosts the fantastic flight of hundreds of colorful tropical butterflies every day.
In its 500 square meters both the climate and the environment of the rainforests are reproduced: a temperature that fluctuates between 28 and 30 degrees and a humidity that is around 65-70%.
Inside the greenhouse, thousands of butterflies originating from the tropical regions of Africa, Asia, America and Australia live and reproduce; walking along the paths it is easy to observe them closely, resting on the flowers or on the large leaves of ficus, banana trees and other tropical shrubs.
Next to the greenhouse there is also "The House of Insects", a pavilion entirely dedicated to the world of insects: bees, locusts, beetles and other extravagant insects from all over the world welcome the visitor and guide him to discover a world, that of the invertebrates, unknown to most and particularly full of surprises.
The already rich offer of the center, which in addition to the two pavilions also includes an external naturalistic botanical path and a large garden with a gazebo for a pleasant outdoor stop, has been further expanded with the opening in 2013 of the new greenhouse "Il Bruco" , which is home to several species of Italian butterflies.
The Center is municipal property, and was built with the contribution of the Emilia Romagna Region.
It is managed by Atlantide, the Cervese cooperative of environmental studies and services, which for years has been organizing specific environmental education itineraries on the theme of butterflies and insects in general.
